Magnolia Sunset Margarita
As summer peaks, it’s time to embrace the warmth and celebrate the season with loved ones. This week’s excitement goes beyond the sun-kissed days my weather app is promising; I’m fueled by the anticipation of a new season of Sweet Magnolias on Netflix (July 20).
The show—and novels—doesn’t just have a great storyline, but it beautifully highlights the power and beauty of female friendships. To honor this spirit, I’ve crafted a delightful “Magnolia Sunset Margarita” with southern flavors that, I hope, inspires you to gather with your girlfriends and toast to the season. So, “pour it out” and enjoy!
I used peaches because they’ve long been synonymous with the South, evoking images of lazy summer afternoons and sunshine; they add a delightful sweetness.
The Aperol is an unexpected addition that lends a beautiful citrus flavor to the drink, perfectly complementing the peach. Plus, the vibrant color adds an extra allure to this special summer cocktail (or cocktail—more on that below)!
Don’t skip the honey-sugar rim or the basil. The honey-sugar rim adds sweetness (if you have very ripe peaches, you might opt for salt instead of sugar to balance the sweetness) and the basil infuses the drink with a refreshing herbal note.
