Magnolia Plantation & Gardens
There is a bridge you’ve likely seen on Instagram, and it’s tucked into the lush oasis that is Magnolia Plantation & Gardens in the beloved outskirts of Charleston, South Carolina. I had the pleasure of sitting down to chat with a member of their team, Kayla, to discuss just what makes this destination so special.
On the banks of the Ashley River in Charleston, South Carolina, sits a hidden gem of history and horticulture—the Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. It’s a quintessential Lowcountry destination, with a little something for everyone.
In the 1840s, a gentleman by the last name of Drayton designed a romantic-style garden, largely to highlight his impressive camellia and azalea collections. Today, you can still wander the original paths and admire the property’s impressive 66 walkable acres. From swamps to bamboo gardens, rescued animals to native species, the Magnolia House to slave cabins, there is so much to see, learn, and do.
Plan your visit now.
P.S. Interested in that infamous bridge? You’ll hear all about it (and more) in this episode!
